The mechanisms above were designed to reproduce the motion the human hand undertakes when spinning the Cicada Sound toy shown here. The toy produces sound through the plastic thread rubbing upon the bamboo stick as the cicada shaped toy orbits through the flicking of the wrist.
Through multiple prototypes the perfect speed and circuference were acheieved to create a mechanism that rotates the toy and utilises its momentum to run endlessly.
